Amos Rex is an art museum at Lasipalatsi in central Helsinki. The exhibitions change, so the family experience depends on what is currently on show. Families may find large exhibition spaces, images, sound, light, and contemporary art that can be explored and talked about together. Admission is free for visitors under 18.

- Practical notes
- The museum is at Lasipalatsi, close to Kamppi and the Central Railway Station. Strollers are welcome in the exhibition halls, but large bags and backpacks should be left in lockers. Snacks can be eaten in the lobby, not in the exhibition spaces.
- Opening-hours notes
- Official opening hours are Mon 11:00–20:00, Tue closed, Wed–Fri 11:00–20:00, and Sat–Sun 11:00–17:00. Check exceptional opening hours before going; 2026 exceptions include extended hours for Helsinki Day on 12.6.2026, a Midsummer closure on 19.–21.6.2026, and extended Night of the Arts hours on 20.8.2026.
- Booking notes
- A normal family visit usually does not need a separate booking. Tickets can be bought online or at the museum; guided tours and groups are booked separately.
- Price notes
- Paid for adults, free for visitors under 18. The official page lists museum tickets as €22 general admission, €15 reduced admission, €5 for students and 18–29-year-olds, and €0 for under-18s. Online general admission is €20.
- Age notes
- Best for children around 5–12 who can look, listen, and talk about art with an adult. Younger children may enjoy a short visit, but sounds, lighting, dark spaces, or crowds can alter the experience.
- Seasonal notes
- Works year-round, but exhibition changes can close the museum for several weeks.
- Weather notes
- A good rainy-day and cold-day option when the museum is open.
