Ehrensvärd Museum is by Suomenlinna's original central courtyard in the Commandant's House. The building's first resident was Augustin Ehrensvärd, the founder of Viapori / Suomenlinna. The museum interior presents a 1700s noble home, with portraits, furniture, weapons, and ship models of the Swedish Archipelago Fleet. For families, it works as a short history and home-museum stop during a Suomenlinna outing.

- Accessibility
- The official ticket information says the museum is on the second floor of the building and there is no elevator. The visit is therefore not well suited to strollers, wheelchairs, or other mobility aids. Outdoor routes at Suomenlinna can also include cobblestones, gravel, slopes, and exposure to weather.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- Keep the visit focused: a few rooms, the ship models, and possibly the digital guide are enough for most children. Allow for the Suomenlinna ferry, the walk to the museum, and island weather even though the museum visit itself is indoors. Check the Suomenlinna calendar for same-day exceptions before going.
- Opening-hours notes
- The museum is seasonal. The official page lists summer 2026 opening as daily from 4.5. to 31.8.: in May 10:30-16:00, and from June to August 10:30-13:00 and 13:30-17:30. In April and September it is open on weekends, Sat-Sun 10:30-16:00. The ticket information mentions the summer season starting on 2.5.2026, so check the day's calendar before going.
- Booking notes
- A normal family visit does not need a separate booking, but tickets can be bought in advance from the online shop. Groups are asked to inform the museum of their arrival in advance. School groups are welcome with a teacher, and school groups aged 7-18 are listed as free.
- Price notes
- Tickets cost EUR 7 for adults, EUR 6 for students and pensioners, and EUR 4 for children aged 7-17. Museum Card, Helsinki Card, and Suomenlinna guided-tour ticket holders enter free.
- Age notes
- Best for children around 7-14 who can look at historical rooms, portraits, weapons, and ship models with an adult. With younger children, it mainly works as a short add-on to outdoor time at Suomenlinna or to the Suomenlinna Museum.
- Seasonal notes
- Ehrensvärd Museum is a spring-to-early-autumn seasonal destination for normal public visits. In winter, do not plan it as a self-guided family visit unless current information or a group arrangement confirms access.
- Weather notes
- The museum rooms are indoors, so the destination works in rain during the museum season. The ferry, walk to Susisaari, and stairs in the old building still depend on weather and footwear, especially in windy or wet conditions.
