Finlandia Hall is an architecture and event venue designed by Alvar Aalto on the edge of Töölönlahti bay. For families, the clearest evergreen reason to visit is Visions of Alvar Aalto - Finlandia Exhibition, which presents the creativity of Alvar, Aino, and Elissa Aalto, Finnishness, light, nature, and design across five experiential spaces. The visit works especially from school age up: with a child, you can listen to the opening Finlandia Hymn, notice changes in light and materials, move into the forest-themed space, and try your own ideas in the MyAalto section. You can also see Finlandia Hall's public areas, visit the design shop, or take a break at Finlandia Cafe&Wine, but event facilities are only for event participants.

Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- Build the visit around the exhibition, cafe, shop, and the building's public areas. Lobby-floor opening depends on space reservations, and the event facilities are not for general self-guided roaming. The cafe and terrace have plenty of seating, but for groups of more than eight people the cafe recommends contacting them in advance.
- Opening-hours notes
- The exhibition page lists Visions of Alvar Aalto opening hours as Mon-Fri 10:00-19:00, Sat 11:00-18:00, and Sun 11:00-16:00. Exceptional opening hours are listed on Tiketti. Finlandia Hall's general opening hours and service-specific hours can differ, and lobby-floor opening depends on space reservations.
- Booking notes
- No mandatory advance booking is listed for a normal exhibition visit. Tickets are available from Tiketti, through the Finlandia Hall website, and from the service point. Private tour inquiries and sales are handled at servicepoint@finlandiatalo.fi, with a minimum group size of eight people.
- Price notes
- A basic ticket to Visions of Alvar Aalto costs EUR 18 via Tiketti and EUR 20 at the service point. A discount ticket is EUR 16, a group ticket for at least eight people is EUR 16 per person, and a child ticket for ages 7-14 is EUR 7. The Finnish Museum Card is accepted for the exhibition. Access to the building's public cafe and shop areas is not an exhibition ticket, but purchases and food are paid separately.
- Age notes
- Best for children and young people around 7-15 who are interested in architecture, light, sound, nature, design, or an interactive exhibition space. With younger children, keep the visit short and focus on the exhibition's sensory parts, a cafe break, and the Töölönlahti setting.
- Seasonal notes
- The exhibition and indoor services make this a year-round visit, while summer adds the terrace, grill, and free terrace programme. Those are programme-like extras, so check them separately if the family is looking for a specific music or evening event.
- Weather notes
- The indoor exhibition, cafe, and shop suit rainy, cold, and windy weather. The terrace, Töölönlahti view, and arrival from transit stops are outdoors, so in heat, rain, or freezing weather it is worth planning breaks indoors.
