Hanikka beach is a supervised summer beach at Suinonsalmi. Families will find swimming, a sandy beach, and changing rooms; kiosk services are across Suvisaarentie at the Suinonsalmi kiosk. The beach has simpler facilities than many other supervised Espoo beaches, and water quality, temperature, and blue-green algae information should be checked before going.

- Accessibility
- The city accessibility information says the nearest parking area is over 200 m from the beach and the pick-up and drop-off area is over 100 m away. The route to the beach is smooth and sufficiently wide, but there is no accessible toilet, only an outhouse. The route to the dressing room is rough and narrow, the entrance has three consecutive steps, and there is not enough room for a wheelchair in front of the door.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- Hanikka works best for families who are comfortable with a simpler beach visit. The beach has changing rooms but no showers, and the kiosk is across the road. Smoking is prohibited on all Espoo beaches.
- Opening-hours notes
- The beach is supervised in the summer season, but exact lifeguard hours should be checked from the city's current information and the beach notice board. Bathing water samples are recorded during the summer season 15.6.-31.8., and Hanikka/Suinonsalmi is an EU beach. In 2026, sampling dates are 1.6., 22.6., 6.7., 20.7. and 17.8.
- Booking notes
- A normal beach visit does not require booking.
- Price notes
- The beach is free to use. Kiosk purchases cost extra.
- Age notes
- Suitable for many child ages when adults supervise swimming constantly. Because facilities are more limited and there are no showers, a visit with younger children may work best as a shorter beach stop.
- Seasonal notes
- Swimming, lifeguards, and beach services are summer-season activities. Check separate current city information if you are planning winter swimming.
- Weather notes
- Best in warm and calm weather. In rain or thunder, postpone the beach day, and sea wind can make the Suinonsalmi shore feel cool.
