The exhibition centre of Helsinki University Museum Flame is in the historic University of Helsinki Main Building, at the corner of Fabianinkatu and Yliopistonkatu. The permanent Passion for knowledge exhibition tells about the people, disciplines, and places where science is done at the university. Families can explore how research, university history, and Finnish society connect, while changing exhibitions add current science, art, and cultural themes.

Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The exhibition centre is on the first floor. On Saturdays, access is from Yliopistonkatu 2, so check the entrance before going. The visit works best as a calm city-centre science and history stop.
- Opening-hours notes
- Official exhibition-centre hours are Tue-Wed 12:00-16:00, Thu 12:00-20:00, and Fri-Sat 12:00-16:00; Mon and Sun closed. The 2026 exceptions include closure 14.12.2026-17.2.2027, so check current hours before going.
- Booking notes
- Booking is not needed for a normal museum visit. Guided tours, groups, school visits, and separate events follow the museum's own instructions.
- Price notes
- Adult admission is EUR 10 and reduced admission is EUR 7. Under-18s and University of Helsinki staff, students, and other university community members enter free. Museum Card holders enter free.
- Age notes
- Best for children and young people around 8-14 who are interested in science, research, universities, or the history of society. With younger children, keep the visit short and choose the most concrete parts of the exhibitions.
- Seasonal notes
- The museum operates year-round during its normal opening periods, but holidays and exhibition changes can affect visits. The Observatory is a separate visitor site with its own opening hours.
- Weather notes
- A good rainy-day, cold-day, and windy-day option because the exhibition visit is indoors and close to city-centre public transport.
