The Hotel and Restaurant Museum is located at Cable Factory in Ruoholahti. The museum looks at the history of Finnish food, drinks, hotels, and restaurants through objects, images, and everyday stories. With children, the visit works best as shared exploring: what people have eaten, what restaurants have looked like, and how celebrations, travel, and eating habits have changed.

Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The museum is part of the Cable Museums cluster together with the Theatre Museum and the Finnish Museum of Photography. If visiting more than one museum on the same outing, adults can use the Cable Museums joint ticket.
- Opening-hours notes
- Official opening hours: Tue–Fri 11:00–19:00 and Sat–Sun 11:00–18:00. The museum is closed on Mondays. Ticket sales and admission end 30 minutes before closing. Check exceptional opening hours before going.
- Booking notes
- Booking is usually not needed for a normal museum visit. Group visits, guided tours, and self-guided group visits are handled separately through the museum’s instructions.
- Price notes
- Paid for adults, free for under-18s. The official page lists tickets as adults €16, pensioners, students, and unemployed visitors €6, and under-18s €0. The adult joint ticket for the Cable Museums is €21. Free admission is offered on the last Wednesday of each month from 16:00 to 19:00.
- Age notes
- Best for children around 6–12 who can look at objects, read short texts, and talk about the themes with an adult. For younger children, it may work as a short stop.
- Seasonal notes
- Works year-round.
- Weather notes
- A good rainy-day and cold-day option because the visit is indoors. Reaching Cable Factory may still include a short outdoor approach.
