The Luonnon syli nature trail loops through Pornaistenniemi's lush alder grove beside the reeds of Vanhankaupunginlahti. On the roughly one-kilometre route, families can stop at a play area, wooden seats and a picnic spot, and watch birds from the tower and hide. The wellbeing-themed information boards include short poem-style texts and exercises, and a mirror at the base of the birdwatching tower reflects the Vanhankaupunginlahti landscape.

- Accessibility
- The route is at least 1.5 m wide all the way and is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. The surface is still soft and uneven in places, with fine crushed rock, gravel, stones, roots, and boardwalk planks. The trail includes a steep hill with the steepest ascent around 19%. The birdwatching tower and hide are not accessible. There are three accessible parking spaces, but the dry toilet marked as accessible does not meet accessibility requirements.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The official visiting address is Katariina Saksilaisen katu 13. The route is partly one-way and partly circular, and it is marked in the terrain with signs at central crossroads. Along the trail there are ten information boards, rubbish bins, and a rest stop with benches and tables.
- Opening-hours notes
- The nature trail does not have ordinary indoor-style opening hours. Plan the visit around daylight, weather, and the route surface.
- Booking notes
- A self-guided visit to the nature trail does not require booking.
- Price notes
- Walking the nature trail is free.
- Age notes
- Works for families with babies and toddlers as a short stroller route if the uneven terrain fits the group. The play area, birdwatching, and wellbeing boards give preschool and school-age children clear stopping points.
- Seasonal notes
- The route works best in snow-free conditions if accessibility or stroller use is important for the visit. Soft or wet surfaces and the steep hill can make moving along the trail harder.
- Weather notes
- Dry weather is best for a short nature outing. Rain, wet boardwalks, or winter conditions can make uneven sections and the steep hill more difficult.
