The Military Museum's Manege and the Artillery Manege are on Iso Mustasaari in Suomenlinna. The Manege exhibition covers the wars of independent Finland, while the Artillery Manege presents frontline art, soldier life in wartime and peacetime, and mini exhibitions about war children and Soviet propaganda posters. For families, the visit works best when the child can process themes around war, weapons, and propaganda with an adult.

- Accessibility
- Official accessibility information says the buildings are reached via uneven cobblestone ramps, the ramps are steeper than recommendations, and the doors are heavy. The exhibition spaces are mostly on the entrance level, but some experiential parts are not suitable for mobility aids. The Manege has an accessible toilet with limited turning space; the Artillery Manege does not.

- Practical notes
- This works best as a calm indoor stop during a Suomenlinna outing. The HSL ferry runs from Market Square to Iso Mustasaari, and the walk from the main pier to the Manege and Artillery Manege is about 800 m. Submarine Vesikko is not included in this activity because it is separate and more seasonal.
- Opening-hours notes
- 1.5.-30.9. open Mon-Sun 11:00-18:00. 1.10.-30.4. open Wed-Mon 11:00-16:30 and closed on Tuesdays. Last admittance is 30 minutes before closing. The Artillery Manege will close at the beginning of November 2026 for a new exhibition, and the Military Museum's Manege is closed 24.-26.12.2026.
- Booking notes
- A normal family visit does not need a separate booking. Tickets can be bought online in advance, and guided group visits are priced separately.
- Price notes
- Visitors under 18 enter the Military Museum exhibitions free. Adult admission is EUR 10, and the student (18+) and pensioner ticket is EUR 5. Museum Card and Helsinki Card holders enter free.
- Age notes
- Best for children and young people around 9-15 who are interested in history and can process topics such as war, weapons, propaganda, and war children with adult support. The subject matter may feel heavy for younger children.
- Seasonal notes
- The Maneges are a year-round Military Museum destination, but summer has daily opening and winter has Tuesday closure. Suomenlinna weather and ferry timetables affect the outing in every season.
- Weather notes
- The exhibitions are indoors, so the destination works in rain and cold. The ferry ride and walk in Suomenlinna are outdoors, so account for wind, slippery surfaces, and clothing.
