Nature House Villa Elfvik is a free nature destination beside the Laajalahti Nature Reserve. It is especially useful for a calm outing that combines indoor nature play with an easy outdoor trail.

Accessibility
The unit accessibility information says the ground floor is wheelchair-accessible, but the main entrance has steps, a steep ramp under 6 m, thresholds over 2 cm, and a heavy door. The Nature Sanctuary trail and bird-watching tower are accessible during snow-free times. The toilet is marked accessible, but it does not have enough wheelchair space and the door width is 69 cm.

Practical notes
On weekdays, own packed lunches can be eaten in the café room, and food can be heated at the house. The yard and trails have table groups for snack breaks. Café Elfvik is open on Sundays, and waste is sorted according to the nature house guidance.
Opening-hours notes
Official opening hours: 1.4.-30.9. Mon-Fri 9:00-16:00 and Sat-Sun 10:00-16:00, closed 19.-20.6.2026. 1.10.-31.3. Mon-Fri 9:00-15:00 and Sun and midweek holidays 10:00-16:00, closed 6.1., All Saints' Day, 6.12. and 24.-28.12. Check exceptions before going.
Booking notes
A normal nature-house visit does not require booking. Some children's trail materials and baskets are borrowed from Info and should be reserved in advance; birthday parties and group visits are arranged separately.
Price notes
Admission to the nature house is free. Birthday parties, group programmes, and separately arranged services may be paid.
Age notes
Works especially well for toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-school children. The Väinö the Crow trail and Tracing the Hare winter trail are aimed at children under 8 with an adult.
Seasonal notes
The nature house is year-round, but some trails and children's routes are seasonal. Stroller and wheelchair access on nearby trails is easiest during snow-free times.
Weather notes
The indoor exhibition and Badger's Forest help on rainy days, but the nature trails, outdoor tables, and bird tower are best in dry and calm weather.
