Petikko is a varied nature recreation area within Vantaa's largest continuous forest area. Its routes are used for walking and cycling outside the snow season and for skiing in winter. Near the Petikko Gate parking area there is an outdoor gym with tables and benches, and the wider area also has lean-tos for picnic stops.

- Accessibility
- Accessible parking helps with arrival, but the routes to Petikko and Pyymosa lean-tos are partly difficult and hilly. With a stroller, stay on wider nearby routes rather than planning a long forest section.

- Practical notes
- Routes can be long and terrain varies. Petikko lean-to is about 2 km and Pyymosa lean-to about 5 km from parking, so choose the destination by the children's stamina. In winter some routes may be reserved for ski tracks.
- Opening-hours notes
- The outdoor recreation area does not have standard opening hours. Route use can vary by weather, maintenance and winter ski-track conditions.
- Booking notes
- A self-guided family outing does not require booking.
- Price notes
- Normal outdoor use of the area is free.
- Age notes
- Works best for children who can walk independently on forest terrain. With younger children, a short snack outing near Petikko Gate is more realistic than a long route to a lean-to.
- Seasonal notes
- Suitable year-round, but the outing changes by season. In snow-free seasons the area works for walking and cycling, while in winter some routes are used for skiing.
- Weather notes
- Best in dry or clear weather. The forest gives shade in summer, but rain and slippery conditions can make routes harder.
