The Reitz Collection is an art museum in the former home of Lauri and Maria Reitz. The collection includes major works of Finnish art, antique silver, weapons, Meissen and Sèvres porcelain, rare antique timepieces, and furniture from different eras. For families, it works best as a short and calm looking round where you choose a few groups of objects and talk together about collecting, home life, and the stories of old objects.

Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The museum is in an upper-floor apartment home, and the visit is mainly about looking. With small children, agree in advance that objects are not touched and keep the visit short. Finnish-language public guided tours are free and last about an hour, but a shorter self-guided visit may work better for a family if the child tires easily.
- Opening-hours notes
- The museum is open Wednesdays 15:00-18:00 and Sundays 12:00-16:00. Free Finnish-language public guided tours are on Wednesdays 15:30 and Sundays 12:30 and 14:30. The Swedish-language public guided tour is on the first Sunday of the month at 14:30. Check current exceptions before going.
- Booking notes
- No advance booking is listed for a normal visit during public opening hours. Group visits are booked by email at museo@reitz.fi; guided tours are free for groups of more than 10 people, groups under 10 people pay a EUR 70 small-group fee, and the maximum group size is 40 people.
- Price notes
- Admission is free. Public guided tours are also free, and a guided tour for groups of more than 10 people is free of charge.
- Age notes
- Best for children and young people around 9-15 who are interested in art, old homes, antiques, built Helsinki, or stories about collectors. The weapons collection and calm home-museum setting make the destination better for older children than preschoolers.
- Seasonal notes
- The museum is a year-round indoor destination, but public opening is limited to two days a week and possible holiday or vacation exceptions should be checked separately.
- Weather notes
- This indoor destination works in rain, cold, and windy weather as long as the limited opening hours fit the family's schedule.
