Seurasaari Open-Air Museum is a large outdoor museum on a park island that is open for outdoor visits year-round. During the museum season, families can walk from building to building and look into smoke cabins, crofts, manor settings, farmyards, and rural buildings moved from different parts of Finland. From 13 June 2026, the ordinary museum visit also includes the new Summer Cottage, with Finnish cottage culture and leisure time. The museum buildings and yards require a ticket, but admission is free for visitors under 18.

- Accessibility
- The island has routes that can be used on foot, with a pram, or with a wheelchair, but the open-air museum is only partly accessible. Historic buildings may have high thresholds and stairs. Iisalmi parsonage and the museum shop are accessible by lift; check the exact route with the museum if step-free access is essential.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The visit is mainly an outdoor walk around the island, so there is distance between buildings. Families can explore independently, and the official mobile guide has stories for more than 30 buildings in many languages. Children under 7 can enter the museum only when accompanied by an adult. Public toilets are available on the island, but the museum itself has no public toilets. Antin Kaffeliiteri cafe follows the museum opening hours.
- Opening-hours notes
- The museum is open annually 15.5.-15.9. In 2026, it is open 1.6.-15.9. daily 11:00-17:00, but closed on Midsummer Eve, 19.6. Check the official page before going if your visit is near a holiday or the start/end of the season.
- Booking notes
- A normal museum visit does not require booking. Tickets can be bought from the webshop, the ticket kiosk by the Seurasaari bridge, or the museum shop at Iisalmi parsonage. Private guided tours, groups, and school visits are booked separately following the museum's instructions.
- Price notes
- Seurasaari island is free as a public park. The open-air museum buildings and yards require a ticket: adult EUR 14 or EUR 13 from the webshop, reduced ticket EUR 10 or EUR 9 from the webshop. Admission is free for visitors under 18. A one-site building-dependent ticket costs EUR 6, and an adult Seurasaari-Tamminiemi combined ticket costs EUR 24.
- Age notes
- Best for preschoolers and primary-school children who can manage an outdoor walk and short stops inside buildings. With younger children, the island can also work as a calm pram-and-picnic outing, but access into museum buildings varies.
- Seasonal notes
- The museum is seasonal. Outside the museum season, Seurasaari still works as a public park island, but the museum buildings and yards are not available as a normal museum visit.
- Weather notes
- Best in dry weather. Rain, cold, or strong wind can shorten the visit because the routes, yards, and much of the experience are outdoors.
