Siimespolku loops through Haltiala nature reserve as a forest nature trail. Along the route there are six nature information signs and three rest spots with benches, making it a calm self-guided forest outing for children who can walk the trail themselves. The route is marked with orange diamond symbols and is mostly easy to follow, but it also includes stairs, hills and uneven sections.

- Accessibility
- The route is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. According to the accessibility information, the path is wide but the terrain is partly soft and uneven, with crushed stone, gravel, stones, roots, duckboards, steep hills, stairs, and at least one unrailed level difference that creates a fall hazard. The parking area has marked accessible parking spaces, but the trail start is more than 200 m away.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The official visiting address is Pakilantie 124, 00670 Helsinki, by Paloheinä hiking lodge. From the lodge it is a few hundred metres to the western starting point, where there is a map sign and stairs leading to the path. The loop can also be joined from several outdoor routes and forest paths. Haltiala's marked forest trails have no lighting, ski tracks, or winter maintenance.
- Opening-hours notes
- The nature trail does not have ordinary indoor-style opening hours. Haltiala's marked forest trails have no lighting or winter maintenance, so plan the visit around daylight and terrain conditions.
- Booking notes
- A self-guided visit to the nature trail does not require booking.
- Price notes
- Walking the nature trail is free.
- Age notes
- Best for preschool and school-age children who can manage a roughly 2.4-kilometre forest trail and stairs with an adult. With toddlers, the trail can be difficult without a carrier.
- Seasonal notes
- The route works best in snow-free and dry conditions. Snow, ice, wet duckboards, or a dark forest setting make the walk much harder.
- Weather notes
- Dry weather is best for this forest loop. In rain, roots, stones, duckboards and steeper sections can be slippery.
