Submarine Vesikko is a restored Finnish submarine from the 1930s and 1940s. It was built in Turku under the identifier CV-707, bought by the Finnish state in 1936, and opened as a museum exhibit in Suomenlinna in 1973. Inside, families see the cramped working and living spaces of submariners among diesel and electric engines and torpedoes. The destination works best for children who are interested in technical spaces, ships, and military history and can handle narrow, dim routes.

- Accessibility
- Official accessibility information says Vesikko has no accessible entrance or exit. Entry and exit use metal stairs, doorways and corridors have high thresholds, the corridor is narrow, and wheeled mobility aids cannot fit through it. Inside there is dim lighting, low doorways, and crossbeams at about 180 cm height. There is no accessible toilet immediately next to Vesikko.

- Practical notes
- Vesikko is a separate Suomenlinna stop and works well as a short add-on to the Military Museum Maneges or another island route. The HSL ferry runs from Market Square to Iso Mustasaari, and the walk from the main pier to Vesikko is about 1 km. Inside, visitors move through a narrow corridor, so backpacks, strollers, and larger items are best left out of the visit.
- Opening-hours notes
- 11.5.-30.9.2026 open Mon-Sun 11:00-18:00. Closed from 1.10. Last admittance is 15 minutes before closing. Check possible same-day exceptions from the Military Museum or Suomenlinna current information before going.
- Booking notes
- A normal family visit does not need a separate booking. Tickets can be bought online in advance, and guided tours by request are arranged separately.
- Price notes
- Visitors under 18 enter the Military Museum exhibitions free. Adult admission is EUR 10, and the student (18+) and pensioner ticket is EUR 5. The same ticket covers the Military Museum's Manege, the Artillery Manege, and, in summer season, Vesikko. Museum Card and Helsinki Card holders enter free.
- Age notes
- Best for children and young people around 8-15 who are not frightened by tight spaces and can move carefully on stairs, thresholds, and low doorways. For younger children, the fascinating vessel may be physically difficult or intimidating.
- Seasonal notes
- Vesikko is a summer-season destination from mid-May to the end of September. From October onward the submarine is closed, even though the Military Museum Maneges may be open.
- Weather notes
- The submarine interior is sheltered from weather, but the ferry trip, about 1 km walk, possible queueing, and metal stairs are outdoors. Wet or windy weather can make the visit harder, and the dim interior may feel demanding on a hot day.
