The trail focuses on reptiles and amphibians, with 11 information boards, photos, QR codes that open extra material for children, and raised platforms that help smaller visitors see the board images. The route is marked with green pinecone signs and can be combined with a snack break near the Uutela kota or cooking shelters.

- Accessibility
- The route is not fully accessible and is not suitable for strollers for the full trail. It includes narrow points, duckboards, stones, roots and at least one unrailed drop beside the route. Some information boards can be reached without duckboards, and there is an accessible dry toilet less than 20 metres from the main route.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The herp trail starts and ends near the Uutela kota. For the QR tasks, bring a phone or print the children's material in advance. Allow about two hours if you want to visit all information boards and do the tasks. If using the cooking shelters, bring your own firewood or charcoal.
- Opening-hours notes
- The herp trail does not have ordinary indoor-style opening hours. It is an outdoor route and has no winter maintenance.
- Booking notes
- A normal self-guided nature visit does not require booking.
- Price notes
- Walking the herp trail is free.
- Age notes
- Best for children who can walk a roughly 1.4-kilometre nature trail with an adult. Younger children may enjoy the photos, raised platforms and Sissi the lizard tasks, but visitors should stay on the trail and give any snakes plenty of space.
- Seasonal notes
- The route can be used year-round, but April-May is the best time for seeing animals. In winter, reptiles or amphibians are usually not visible, but the information-board photos and QR material can still be used. The route has no winter maintenance.
- Weather notes
- Dry weather is best for a route with duckboards, roots and narrow points. In rain or winter the surface can be slippery or muddy, and the kota or cooking shelters do not replace an indoor destination.
