The Nature Sanctuary trail loops from Nature House Villa Elfvik through old forest to the Laajalahti shore and back to the house. Along the short route there are seven information boards about the area's history, nature, and Laajalahti Nature Reserve; the boards also include a section for younger children. In summer, cows may graze on the shore meadow, and the trail continues to a bird-watching tower with a lower platform that is accessible. The stone jetty and tables next to the tower work for a packed-lunch stop.

- Accessibility
- During snow-free conditions, the route can be used with a stroller and with a wheelchair when assisted. The lower platform of the Elfvik bird-watching tower is also accessible. The accessible toilet and other indoor services at the nature house are separate from the trail and depend on the building's opening hours.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The route starts from the yard of Nature House Villa Elfvik, Elfvikintie 4. The information boards are in Finnish and Swedish. The boathouse by the shore presents Laajalahti birds during the nature house opening hours, and a gazebo along the path contains Uranus from Ursa Astronomical Association's solar system model. Villa Elfvik toilets, packed-lunch room, and other indoor services depend on the nature house opening hours.
- Opening-hours notes
- The trail itself has no set opening hours. The boathouse bird material, toilets, and indoor services at the nature house are available only during Villa Elfvik opening hours.
- Booking notes
- A self-guided walk does not require booking.
- Price notes
- Walking the nature trail is free.
- Age notes
- Works for children of many ages as a short nature and bird outing. For small children, the route is a manageable length with a stroller or at a slow walking pace, and the child sections on the information boards make the stops easier to use.
- Seasonal notes
- Accessible movement with strollers and wheelchairs applies during snow-free conditions. In winter, the same area may have the Tracing the Hare material for children, but winter conditions can change how passable the route is.
- Weather notes
- Dry, snow-free weather is best for an accessible outing. In rain, the shore meadow and forest route surfaces can feel heavier, and in windy weather the shore and bird tower can feel cool.
