Espa Stage celebrates Helsinki Day with a full day of city culture, music and samba. The late-morning Stadin Slangi section announces the year's Stadin Friidu and Kundi, includes a slang choir and Helsinki culture guests, and brings a greeting from the mayor. In the afternoon, the Lapland Military Band performs a MIL-Espa park concert. The clearest family-friendly part is the early-evening opening of Helsinki Samba Carnaval, with samba teaching, samba-school performances, young samba dancers and a costume contest.

- Accessibility
- The audience area at Espa Stage is accessible, and the Stadin Slangi section starting at 11.00 is interpreted into Finnish Sign Language. The stage does not have an accessible toilet, but the neighbouring Restaurant Kappeli has accessible toilet facilities. For this long outdoor event, crowds, weather, music volume and park routes may affect moving with prams or mobility aids.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- Espa Stage is outdoors in Esplanade Park opposite Restaurant Kappeli. The programme lasts ten hours, so families may find it easiest to choose a visit time around the most interesting programme section. No weather plan or rain-related changes have been stated, and there is no parking in the park.
- Schedule notes
- The programme is on Friday 12.6.2026 from 11.00 to 21.00. The Stadin Slangi Helsinki Day section runs from 11.00 to 12.20, the Lapland Military Band's MIL-Espa concert starts at 14.00, and the Helsinki Samba Carnaval opening runs from 17.30 to 21.00 with samba teaching, performances and a costume contest.
- Booking notes
- Entry is free, and no advance registration or ticket booking is listed.
- Age notes
- This is an open city celebration for everyone, not a programme aimed only at children. Samba teaching, colourful performances, young samba dancers and the costume contest are likely to suit school-age children and children who enjoy music, dance and crowds. The Stadin Slangi section may be most interesting for older children, teenagers and adults.
