On Cable Museums Free Evenings, admission is free to the Theatre Museum, the Hotel and Restaurant Museum, and the Finnish Museum of Photography. At the Theatre Museum, It’s Showtime, Arkadia Theatre and Amaze! Tales and Magic of Circus are open. As well as looking, families can try stages, dressing rooms, costumes, puppets, light and sound elements, and create a small performance of their own. Check the other museums’ current exhibitions on their own websites before visiting.

- Accessibility
- The accessible entrance to the Glass Courtyard is on the Kaapeliaukio side through an automatic door. The ramp from Tehtaanmyymälä to the museum lobby has a gradient of about 8%. The Theatre Museum is on the second floor and can be reached by lift, and its galleries are accessible for the most part; not every stage ramp suits every wheelchair. There is an accessible toilet in the museum lobby. The Cable Factory courtyard has 2 accessible parking spaces with a maximum parking time of 4 hours. The Theatre Museum has no induction loop. The free-evening page does not describe stroller storage or exhibition-specific routes in the other two museums; confirm these in advance if needed.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- Enter through Cable Factory’s Glass Courtyard and the Tehtaanmyymälä shop. The Glass Courtyard has the museums’ shared information desk, coat racks, free lockers and toilets. Three hours may not be enough to explore all three museums with young children, so choose the places that most interest your family. An exhibition area may occasionally be temporarily closed for other programme.
- Schedule notes
- The free evenings are on Wednesdays 26.8., 30.9., 28.10., 25.11. and 30.12.2026 from 16:00–19:00. The official August event page also lists the November and December dates, so they are included in this series.
- Booking notes
- No advance booking is needed for a normal free-evening museum visit. No separate participant capacity or queuing policy has been published, so entry may be affected by visitor numbers at busy moments.
- Price notes
- Admission to the Theatre Museum, the Hotel and Restaurant Museum, and the Finnish Museum of Photography is free during the evenings from 16:00–19:00.
- Age notes
- The free evening has no stated age limit. As editorial guidance, the Theatre Museum’s hands-on stages, costumes, puppets and circus themes work best for children around 4–12, while younger children can also explore them with an adult.
