On the Natural History Museum's free-admission days, families can independently explore galleries about Finnish nature, wildlife around the world, the history of life and skeletons. Along the way are dinosaurs, large mammals and animals from different parts of the world. This is a free exhibition visit rather than a separate children's programme day. Luomus offers mobile audio tours in 60 languages.

- Accessibility
- The accessible entrance is on the courtyard side at Arkadiankatu 7. The museum has a lift, an accessible toilet and a changing room, and strollers can be taken into the exhibitions. Visitors arriving with a wheelchair, walker or wide stroller are asked to contact the ticket desk so staff can open the gate. The winter corner of the Finnish Nature exhibition is the exception to an otherwise mobility-accessible museum.

- Practical notes
- Luomus says the free-admission days are very popular. The museum's indoor snack area is unavailable on those days, but own snacks can be eaten at the tables outside in the courtyard. The café and gift shop follow the museum's opening hours and open half an hour after the museum in the morning.
- Schedule notes
- The remaining 2026 free-admission days are 2026-09-09, 2026-10-09, 2026-11-11 and 2026-12-18. The museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00 on each date.
- Booking notes
- Luomus has not published a separate advance reservation or booking link for private visitors on the free-admission days. It does not state a visitor capacity or queuing policy either, although the days are very popular.
- Price notes
- Admission on the free-admission days is free for private visitors and groups other than early childhood education and educational groups. Early childhood education and educational groups apply separately to Luomus for free visit times.
- Age notes
- No age limit is stated for the free-admission days. The animals, dinosaurs and large exhibition halls suit many ages; as editorial guidance, the museum visit works best for children around 4–12, while younger children can also enjoy a shorter visit with an adult.
