In the Portraits of Us watercolor workshop, an adult and child try watercolors together in the spirit of the Sunshine and Joy of Life exhibition. The session begins with a short look at exhibition portraits, colors and moods. In the workshop, pairs practise looking at each other, study faces and paint portraits of each other or a shared piece. No previous painting experience is needed; the focus is on color, expression and a shared moment.

- Accessibility
- The event combines an indoor introduction in the historic museum building with an outdoor garden workshop. Accessibility is partial: the route from parking goes uphill on a sandy road, the entrance has a ramp but also a high threshold, there are low thresholds indoors and steep stairs to the tower floors. Public toilets, an accessible toilet and a baby-changing table are in the cafe building. Check the route in advance if step-free access, stroller movement or toilet location is important.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- The introduction is indoors in the museum, and the workshop is outdoors in a party tent in the museum garden. Light rain does not prevent the workshop. Bring drinks, clothing for the weather and clothes for the child that can handle watercolor work. One ticket covers one adult and one child, and the work is done in pairs.
- Schedule notes
- Upcoming workshop sessions are on Thursday 16.7.2026 and Thursday 30.7.2026 from 12:00 to 14:00. The public event text describes the active workshop itself as about 75 minutes within the event window.
- Booking notes
- Tickets are bought in advance from the online shop and places are limited. For Kaikukortti participation, contact the museum by email. The online shop says these are one-off event tickets and generally cannot be cancelled or refunded without a particularly serious reason.
- Price notes
- The ticket costs EUR 7 and covers one adult and one child. It includes adult museum admission, a short introduction, materials and the workshop.
- Age notes
- The museum recommends the workshop for children and young people who can take part in a workshop of about 60-75 minutes plus a short museum introduction with their own adult. Breaks are allowed, and families may leave when their own work is ready.
