At the Kaivopuisto observatory, families can meet Moomintroll, Snufkin and Sniff, listen to Moomin stories, and learn about stars and comets. The programme also includes a self-guided comet activity trail, observatory visits, and demonstrations of how a comet is made.

- The observatory is reached by a paved road up a steep hill. The building entrance has two steps and thresholds, and a narrow spiral staircase leads to the dome. The interior is dim, and the building has no toilet, running water or heating. The exact accessibility of the outdoor activity trail is not described.

- The characters can be met hourly from 14:00 to 18:00. Comet-making demonstrations continue while materials last. Families may bring their own snacks, and books are sold at the event.

- Story times in Finnish are at 14:30, 16:30 and 18:30, and in Swedish at 14:45 and 17:45. Astronomy talks are in Finnish at 15:30 and 17:15 and in Swedish at 15:45. The observatory is open throughout the event.
