Glimpses of Light and Hope presents the history of Suomenlinna Church from the 1700s to the present day. The self-guided exhibition route runs through the church courtyard and indoor spaces, with old photographs, documents and stories about the church as a garrison church, a Lutheran church and a lighthouse visible from the sea. Basic exhibition information is available in Finnish, Swedish and English, and QR codes open extra content in several languages. Children have their own QR content, where history is explored through colourful images and animations.

- Accessibility
- Suomenlinna routes include paving stones, gravel, sand, cobbles, hills and lateral slopes, and weather can affect movement. The easier route from the main pier passes the church, but exact step-free access for the indoor and courtyard exhibition route was not confirmed.
Plan your visit
- Practical notes
- Suomenlinna Church is about 200 metres from the main pier. Bring a phone if you want to use the QR content. Suomenlinna is reached from Market Square by HSL ferry or, in summer, by water bus; the travel ticket is not included in the church admission. Check the church event page before leaving, as the church may be reserved for ceremonies or events.
- Schedule notes
- The exhibition is open on weekdays from 11:00 to 18:00 until 30.9.2026. This event record includes all future weekday occurrences found at source check time from 7.7.-30.9.2026.
- Booking notes
- No advance registration is required for the exhibition. The church ticket can be bought on site; the Suomenlinna Museums and Church pass is also available in advance.
- Price notes
- Adult admission to the church costs EUR 5. Under-18s enter free of charge. Travel to Suomenlinna is paid separately with an HSL or water-bus ticket.
- Age notes
- The exhibition is likely to work best from school age upwards for children interested in history, Suomenlinna or old church images. An adult can help open the QR content and handle heavier historical topics such as war and the prison camp.
